In the last post I recommended 5 coats perfect for winter that are made in an ethical way. But buying from sustainable brands it’s not the only way to buy ethical. In today’s article, I want to give you all my tips on how and where to buy once you have decided to stop buying fast fashion.
- Buy from ethical and sustainable brands
This is the most obvious tip of all but it’s actually very important to support those brands that are committed to making the difference. In this way we show the market that there is a demand and more and more people expect that there is no exploitation amd suffering behind their clothes. Invest in sustainable quality garments you enjoy and that last over time.
2. Buy second hand
This is definitely my favorite way to buy and the most sustainable way ever. Buying second hand gives new life to clothes that would otherwise be thrown away and no resources are wasted to create new clothes. Furthermore, by buying in second-hand shops you can find unique and vintage pieces at a very low and convenient price.
3. Buy smart
Stop buying impulsively or buying the latest trends even if you don’t like them. Discover your style and buy only clothes that you know are good for you and that make you feel good. Before making a purchase, ask yourself if you really need it, if you don’t already have something similar in the wardrobe and if you could match it with the clothes you already have, so you can wear it as often as possible. Choose timeless garments that you can wear even in many years
4. Buy less
Last piece of advice but not least: buy less. Focus on quality rather than quantity. It’s better to have a wardrobe with a few unique and quality garments, that match perfectly to each other, than a wardrobe overflowing with clothes that you never wear. Less is more.
