As you know, I decided to pursue a lifestyle that is as sustainable as possible and I’ve already published some articles about zero waste and sustainable fashion. One of my favorite sustainable brands is definitely Organic Basics. I decided to collaborate with them again to create this post where I show you three very simple ways to start living a low impact lifestyle inspired by the Organic Basics Low Impact Project. I also have a 10% discount code for you (OLGAOBC2) that you can use to buy anything from their website where you can find sustainably made, high quality basic piecies but also some zero waste essentials for those who want to start living a sustainable lifestyle. You can see many of them in this post. But let’s start with my tips to live a low impact lifestyle.
Quit fast fashion
The first advice I give you, and also the most important, is to stop buying at fast fashion stores. This is a decision I made a few months ago, after having informed myself at length about the negative consequences that our buying habits bring to both workers, who are often exploited, and to the environment. Alternatively, I suggest you visit your local thrift stores and flea markets where you can find a lot of unique items.
Alternatively, if we want to buy specific items we can support our favorite sustainable fashion brands. For example for underwear and sportwear I prefer to avoid buying second-hand. My favourite sustainable brand for these kind of things is Organic Basics and is where I always buy my underwear. Recently I also bought a beautiful yoga set that I love!
Make some easy zero waste swaps
I’ve already shared with you in a recent post some easy zero waste swaps for the bathroom. One of them is to start to use a bamboo toothbrush as one of the easiest swaps to do. Even Organic Basics produces its own bamboo toothbrushes and they have quickly become my favorites
Another very easy zero waste swaps is to use a reusable fabric shopping bag instead of buying plastic ones. I obviously love mine from Organic Basics which is made of a very resistant fabric and has a beautiful color easy to combine.
You should also stop buying plastic water bottles and buy a steel or glass bottle to refill. My Organic Basics water bottle is perfect for when I do yoga or sport because it is very light and keeps the water cool.
Buy seasonal, organic and local
My last tip of today on how to live a low impact lifestyle is to buy organic, seasonal and local foods. This helps to reduce Co2 emissions of the transport and to reduce the use of toxic substances in cultivation, which are harmful to our health and the environment. An extra tip is to buy from bulk stores to also reduce unnecessary plastic consumption used for packaging.
Let me know if you already perform these actions or if you have other ideas to lead a more sustainable and aware lifestyle!

My husband and I started to make change in our life for the last 3 years or so. We are not perfect but we stopped eating red meat and fish , we reduced considerably our consumption of chicken. We basically eat meat maybe twice a week (before it was every day). We do not flush the toilet every time we go for a wee. Actually we might flush it once a day ( apart when we do a poo) , all our cleaning products are eco-friendly and we try to stop using kitchen paper towel and we replaced them with cotton towel etc. Also I bough a lots of second hand stuff (thrift) and we up-cycling what we can. We are not perfect but we are soon to replace or tooth brush with bamboo one along with our kitchen sponge with a bamboo alternative. We bought much less clothes (especially me as my husband don’t care about fashion) in fact I probably redueced by 90% the amount of clothes I used to buy in compariasoon from few years ago. now Great post by the way.

I think this post is really necessary and interesting 🙂 Right now I’m in the way, I try to wear always a fabric shopping bag to the supermarket, also try to reduce the plastic at home and recycle bottles and packages. Environment is really important for us and for our future, and we need to take care 🙂
Have an amazing weekend!

I hear you I too and doing more to be more aware when I consume. I have more or less stopped buying fast fashion, that is not to stay I will never buy a fast fashion piece again. Just a lot less. I am buying way more pre-loved clothes and sustainable brands. And furniture too. I recently bought a second hand beautiful white dresser in the French country shabby chic style and paid $140 for it. I would have paid that for mass produced particle board crap that is new! Great tips here!
