Self-care is such a popular topic that may seem wishy-washy to you. Maybe you think you don’t have time for it or you’re convinced you don’t need it, but your emotional energy gets depleted by doing too much for too long without a break.
Taking responsibility for your own wellbeing isn’t selfish. It’s probably the most empowering thing you can do for yourself. I’ve put together some of the best self care activities and thought I’d share them today.
1.Take a home spa. Have a long bath or a shower. Water will wash away what no longer serves you and cleanse your mind & body!
2.Pamper yourself. You can apply a facial mask, give yourself a facial massage, take care of your skin, doing a manicure or anything else that makes you feel pampered.
3.Take a tech-detox. Do yourself a favour and shut off your phone. Technology has overwhelmed our daily lives to the point of constant distraction.
4.Go for a walk. Get your body moving, go outside in nature. Even better if you can catch the sunrise or sunset!
5.Listen to your favourite song. It will help you to feel happy or relaxed. You can also sing along to and move your body without any judgement.
6.Connecting with people you care about. See some friends face-to-face. By connecting to others, you can help strengthen your support system and remind yourself that you are loved and valued.
7.Say NO. Saying no to all the little things that eat up your time and mental energy allows you to make time for the activities that make you feel refreshed.
8.Recite an affirmation. Repeating a positive affirmation, such as “I’m strong” or “I’m beautiful” will help you to be kinder to ourselves and reframe the negative self-talk that you may be struggling with.
9.Eat a healthy snack. Planning ahead and eating a healthy snack when you’re just starting to get hungry will prevent you from making unhealthy choices later.
10.Clean And Organize Your Living Space. Sometimes an act of self-care can mean cleaning your living space, throwing away junk, donating what you no longer use, and rearranging your furniture.
11.Write a gratitude list. There are so many things in life to be thankful for. Think back over the past week and list three of these things that made you smile.
This is just my list. I’d love to hear some of the small, but meaningful, things that you do to energize, relax, and care for yourself each day.
