I’ve just came back from a wonderful trip to Marrakech, one of those trips that I dreamed watching Instagram photos of the people who were already been there. Finally I spent a whole week in this wonderful country and now I would like to explore other areas of Morocco as well. But I will tell you more about my experience in Marrakech in a dedicated post soon. Today I wanted to talk about the Riad where I stayed for the first three nights in Marrakech: the Riad Jona. If you want to explore the Medina this is the ideal place to stay. The Riad is located just a few steps away from Jemaa El-Fnaa Square and the main tourist attractions of Marrakech. I literally adored this Riad, a true oasis of peace in the middle of a chaotic and vibrant city like Marrakech.
Room
Our room was a double standard room which was on the first floor overlooking the inner courtyard. The decor of the room is typically Moroccan and I really loved it. The most prevalent colors are white cream and purple and I find this neutral choice of colors very well suited because it gave the room a very relaxing and refreshing air despite the outside temperatures were very high, especially in the afternoon. Upstairs there are the superior rooms and the suites, more spacious than the standard rooms and even these are amazing. I have seen the photos on their site and I noticed that each room has its own individuality and the decor has been cared in detail.
Decor
The Riad’s decor is typically Moroccan. I loved everything, from the tables to the wall decorations to the rose petals in the center of the inner courtyard. What you perceive is the utmost care of details to let guests live a unique experience in a unique setting.
Roof terrace
The terrace is on two floors, the first with a small heated pool, tables, and access to the hammam, the top floor dedicated to sunbeds. We spent a lot of time in this lovely terrace for sunbathing, refreshing in the pool or having a drink while admiring the beautiful landscape on the roofs of Marrakech. The terrace is definitely my favorite place in Riad Jona. In addition to loungers to relax, the riad is full of lounge conrners with comfortable sofas, all beautifully decorated.
Breakfast
The breakfast is included in the price and offer a selection of exquisite handmade jams, bread, pancakes, yogurt, fresh orange juice, fresh fruit coffee and the typical mint. Every morning I couln’t wait to sit in the beautiful courtyard and enjoy breakfast.
To conclude, if you plan a trip to Marrakech I recommend staying in the Riad Jona, a magical and relaxing place. Obviously the service was impeccable and both the owner and the guys working there are very kind and helpful to give you any kind of advice. There are also extra services like the Moroccan cooking course, massages in the hammam and lots of excursions outside of Marrakech. If you want to get an idea of the layout of the various rooms and terraces in the Riad you can watch my little virtual tour I uploaded on Instagram, I hope you like it!
