Last weekend, for my birthday, Ste and I spent a dream weekend in Tyrol, Austria, We were guests of the Posthotel Achenkirch a wonderful wellness 5-star hotel. During our stay we also had the opportunity to meet the hotel manager who kindly told us the history of the hotel and all its special features. As the name implies, the hotel was once a post station converted into a hotel by the Reiter family in 1918. Some of the things that make this hotel special are: the 7000 m² wellness area, golf courses and tennis courts, fitness center, shopping gallery and the possibility to practice horse riding, yoga and meditation accompanied by qualified instructors.
Room
We stayed in a Junior Suite, a large, comfortable room with terrace and a magnificent views of the mountains and the hotel garden. I also loved the bathroom with marble floors and a beautiful bathtub in the center.
The wellness area has 4 indoor pools and one outdoor pool that unfortunately we didn’t see because of the rain. The sauna area, where you enter strictly naked, had 10 different types of saunas and the “Yin-Yang” pool with cold water zone and hot water zone. Everything was perfect to spend a relaxing afternoon.
I loved how the hotel has been furnished especially the fact that nothing was left to chance. Every hallway and lobby was decorated perfectly with lots of flowers and lit candles. I also liked the lampposts and fountains that gave the idea of being in an outdoor environment instead of in an austere hall of a hotel
The food was the thing that I loved most of the weekend. The breakfast buffet was very rich and everything was delicious. The morning of my birthday I found on the table a delicious chocolate cake with a greeting card, it was a nice touch. At dinner there was a menu with different variations of your choice and I absolutely loved everything I have chosen
To end, the weekend I spent at the Posthotel was magnificent, and it is definitely a great base for hiking, visit the Tyrol and the Lake Achensee. My regret is not having had more time to try all the activities that the hotel had to offer, so I recommend, if you can, to stay even longer than two nights. Let me know what you think!
