A mini-guide to Chiemsee

I’m back with a new post after a short break to devote myself completely to my family during the three days spent at home in Milan.
I shot the photos in this post the weekend before I left, when Ste and I made a daytrip to Chiemsee, another wonderful place in Bavaria. Visit a place like that in winter was a wonderful experience and we were able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the beautiful landscapes that the “Bavarian Sea” has to offer. Definitely I will be back again in summer to do all the activities typical of the season like swim in the clear waters of the lake or drink something sitting outside in a Biergarten.
But if you want to experience this place in a totally different way here is a list of things to do at Chiemsee in winter:

1. Go around the lake on a ferry admiring the snowy landscapes from the window
2. Eating pizza at Westernacher am See in Prien, one of the best pizzas I’ve eaten in Germany (and perhaps also in Italy)
3. Explore the tiny Fraueninsel
4. Visit the castle Herrenchiemsee, another castle of Ludwig II like Neuschwanstein. This one is inspired by Versailles and the interior will leave you breathless
